Job Responsibilities:

• Assess and develop specifications for modifying software to correct errors and optimize performance
• Evaluate the performance of application server and database server and tailor the configuration to optimize performance
• Write automation scripts to configure new instances of the application server and the database server
• Coordinate and handle software development, testing and maintenance
• Liaise with technical staff for software development and ensure feasibility given hardware capabilities and performance requirements
• Use java-based libraries for communication with existing systems built by other engineers creating standard communication between the existing and current systems
• Manage and interface programmatically with the Document Management System for archival and retrieval of documents
• Evaluate user requirements for applications and plan accordingly given cost and time constraints
• Create project proposals with estimates for implementation of software products
• Analyze system capabilities for data storage and plan required modifications
• Assess systems for security updates based on suggestions by the network experts
• Communicate and receive feedback from end-users for tailoring the software as needs evolve to ensure optimal functioning
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor performance to ensure expectations are achieved
• Use existing tools to evaluate and plan the installation of software and the dependencies for efficient functioning
• Monitor the existing database and web application servers for optimal performance
• Review data related to application functioning and security used for subsequent configuration of hardware and software systems
• Ensure data security for file transmissions using data encryption/decryption using PGP standards
• Draft reports related to system performance and make recommendations ensure the system is performing based on each stakeholder’s expectations
• Cross train IT staff to facilitate knowledge transfer and coordinate application support and maintain knowledge of current developments in the industry and field

Job Requirements:

• One year experience as any type of Applications Developer, Software engineer, Programmer Analyst or Team Lead
• Passion for learning new technologies and advancing skills

Education:

• A Master's degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Software Engineering
